When I believe the clock struck midnight to mark both the time and the start of a new year, I was fumbling around in the dark for my front door key, wondering if I'd make it inside on time. I was also wondering if my mother's friend's watch was wrong. It might have been. How would we ever know?
In any case when I finally got the door open and switched on the TV, the fireworks at Sydney Harbour were already on full display. So it was after midnight, then. At least we knew that, if nothing else.
It wasn't until a few hours later when I realised December was missing. I'd thought about it earlier in the day, but I thought I'd be home by midnight! That would have left me plenty of time to make a quick post wishing everyone a Happy 2012... and remind them not to jumpstart the Apocalypse*.
A quick post...
Oh, blog. What's happened to us? Am I so busy with my life now that I don't have time to write in you? Have I succumbed to the Twitter temptress? So short, so scandalous, so convenient and easy! That microblog! Mmm!
No, wait! I didn't mean anything by it!
I... thought about deleting you the other day. Are we... drifting apart?
I couldn't bring myself to do it, though.
Yes, I feel there's been a hint of blog neglect over the past couple of years. The passion that was at the beginning of this blog-writer relationship has faded to the point where even writing once a month here seems like a chore. It's not a nice feeling, especially when I know I've had some post ideas floating around and just can't get myself to type them.
Enough is enough! It's time to be more proactive! It's time to produce more random typings.
But how could I go about this? Write a post every day for a month?
Nah. That'll never happen!
... we'll soon see, in any case...
